DJ & Turntablism Course

This programme is endorsed by the National Arts Council Arts Education programme (NAC-AEP) and is eligible for the 60% Tote Board Arts Grant Subsidy.

1. Duration - 5 Sessions, total of 15 hours
- DJ/Turntablism (4 sessions, 3 hours each – total of 12 hours)
- Emcee/Host + Voice Over DJ (1 session of 3 hours)
2. Student Size - Minimum 20 Students, Maximum 30 Students

5. Technical Req. - None (E-TracX will supply all necessary equipment)

Objectives
1. The practice of this art form generally fosters good relationships with fellow Turntablists.  This will help youth improve their inter-personal skills and teach them to interact and work well as a team.

2. To instill creativity, discipline, determination, patience, and sociability.

3. To provide students the opportunity to learn these skills from some of the most talented and experienced DJ instructors in the Asia region.

4. To introduce students to a range of career paths in the music industry.
- DJ, Emcee/Host or Voice-over DJ as a career, part-time job or ad hoc gigs/freelance (source of main or added income)

5. Creative way for youth to express themselves as well as confidence building

Synopsis
DJ – Students will be taught the fundamentals of Beat Matching and Mixing as well as various Turntablism techniques.

Emcee/Host + Voice-over DJ – Students will be taught the basics of emceeing that include addressing an audience, microphone handling techniques and voice equalization.  They will also be introduced to the various types of events that require emcees as well as how to deal with emergencies as an emcee during an event.

Highlights
The classes are half lecture and half lab, and provide students with the highest level in theoretical and practical DJ education. In addition to the basic fundamentals, students will learn philosophy and business know-how… essential knowledge that every student needs to either start or enhance their career.
