A third-generation Javanese/Singaporean turned SERIOUS Hip Hop emcee/lyricist/rapper/DJ, Garuda aka Xarin, -is a product from the Lion City’s hip hop community’s “Golden Era” in late-90s. With a liking for “Boom-Bap” beats, electronic-synthesis melodies, bi-lingual storytelling, charged lyrics and an Asian-Pride conscious mentality, Garuda is THE musician’s rapper.

Garuda has shared stages as an opening act in Singapore with international acts such as The Herbaliser from UK, Black Eyed Peas, Chinese American rapper, Jin tha MC and recently, Akon from USA. His recording discography also includes collaborations with Singaporean-born, Canadian-bred female MC Masia One.

His writings and rap contributions was recently featured in critically-acclaimed, Kelvin Tong’s debut comedy film, “Men In White” and also numerous cable programmes such as “The Amazing Race” season and for Kids Central.

Garuda is also known to be the ‘Hypeman’ or Master of Ceremony for legendary Singapore turntablist/dj/scratch musician, DJ KoFlow. They have been part of the dynamic MC & DJ ultimate tag-team since 2004, whose list of appearances includes Chingay 2005 and Chingay 2006 on top of their club residencies, which includes the defunct Liquidroom, Club Attica and now resides weekly Saturdays at club Plush.

Garuda’s music is the experimental true-school sound for the new-school generation. Expect the rebirth of real Hip Hop from the little red dot island.
